18-Jul-12
Fort McMurray, AB, July 18, 2012 – Miskanaw Golf Club held its annual Member Guest Day presented by The Bouchier Group on Wednesday, as NHL legends Bryan Trottier, Gary Leeman, Bill Derlago, Mike Pelyk and Jack Valiquette joined with members to play golf, award prizes and have some fun at MacDonald Island Park.
The event was highlighted by an interactive ‘Hot Stove’ session in which Trottier, Leeman, Derlago, Pelyk and Valiquette answered questions and engaged with Miskanaw Golf Club members while sharing stories and memories from their playing days.
“It was special day at the golf course with Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Bryan Trottier playing alongside NHL legends like Gary Leeman, Bill Derlago, Mike Pelyk and Jack Valiquette,” said Rob MacGregor, CPGA Director of Golf & Grounds at MacDonald Island Park. “We thank our members and sponsors for making it possible, and specifically The Bouchier Group for its title partnership in making today a reality.”
Over 160 players participated in the Member Guest Day tournament held on Wednesday afternoon. The draw was comprised primarily from Miskanaw Golf Club members, partners and sponsor representatives from The Bouchier Group and Clark Riley Construction.
The draw also included special guests the Honourable Don Scott, MLA for Fort McMurray-Conklin and Associate Minister of Accountability, Transparency and Transformation and Her Worship Melissa Blake, Mayor of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
“Member Guest Day has grown into one of the most highly-anticipated days on the calendar because of the support of Miskanaw members and of our community partners,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “The generosity of our members and partners allows us to develop our junior programs while supporting the redevelopment of the golf course including new holes on No. 14 and No. 18.”
Member Guest Day presented by The Bouchier Group kicked off with a meet & greet on Tuesday night and featured a golf equipment demo, a deluxe buffet lunch at the Fox Den Lounge patio and a cocktail hour preceding a ‘Surf & Turf’ dinner with prize giveaways and awards at Miskanaw Ballroom on Wednesday evening.
A silent auction featuring memorabilia donated by NHL alumni raised $3,000 for the Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society and the Fort McMurray Centre of Hope.
