Transportation details for Northern Kickoff presented by Shell announced

The organizing committee of the Northern Kickoff presented by Shell, the CFL exhibition game on June 13 at SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place, is pleased to announce the details of the free public transportation available on game day for ticket holders.

“Thanks to our partners at Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Transit, Diversified Transportation and Sparksman Transportation, we are able to offer complimentary transportation to the Northern Kickoff on June 13,” said Kelsey Stefanizyn, Northern Kickoff presented by Shell Event Manager and Events Manager of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “Ticket holders can access this free transportation by showing their Northern Kickoff ticket and bringing a donation for the ‘Kick Hunger’ Campaign, a partnership with the Wood Buffalo Food Bank and Building Trades of Alberta to kick hunger in the Wood Buffalo region.”

There are four dedicated Northern Kickoff transit routes available beginning at 4:00 pm on June 13. These four routes are:

·         Timberlea

·         Thickwood

·         Gregoire/Beacon Hill

·         Prairie Loop (express service)

Transit buses will pick up passengers at all designated transit stops on these routes with the exception of the Prairie Loop route, which will be an express from the designated Park and Ride location to MacDonald Island Park. Maps of the routes are available for viewing at northernkickoff.ca. In addition to the collector routes the following shuttle locations will provide convenient access to the free transportation:

·         Syncrude Athletic Park

·         St. Anne School

·         Powder Drive Transit Hub

·         Westwood Community High School

·         Casman Centre

·         Thickwood Heights Public School

·         Greely Road School

·         Frank Lacroix Arena

·         Prairie Loop Boulevard (Park and Ride location)

Ticket holders accessing the free transportation at these locations will be able to drop off their ‘Kick Hunger’ donations directly at these transit points. All other donations may be delivered to the ‘Kick Hunger’ campaign upon arrival at MacDonald Island Park.

Tickets for the June 13 Northern Kickoff presented by Shell can be purchased online at northernkickoff.ca or at Guest Services on the main floor of the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
