(Fort McMurray, AB, December 11, 2013) – MacDonald Island Park is pleased to announce The Sheepdogs presented by ROCK 97.9 FM will headline entertainment at Grand Slam of Curling, the National presented by Syncrude.
The Sheepdogs take the stage at the Nexen Field House Lounge & Entertainment Area presented by Country 93.3 FM & ROCK 97.9 FM on Saturday, March 15. All-event General Admission passes to the National are available at macdonaldisland.ca and include access to The Sheepdogs presented by ROCK 97.9 FM.
Hailing from Saskatoon, The Sheepdogs won an international competition in 2011 securing them the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, making the group the first unsigned band to appear on its front page. The band funded their first three albums and early years of touring on their own, and this rock and roll band’s momentum began to build exponentially with the release of the 2010 Platinum certified album, Learn & Burn. The band would go on to win three 2012 JUNO Awards, New Group of the Year, Single of the Year and Rock Album of the Year. The band's current self titled album, produced by Pat Carney from The Black Keys, was certified GOLD in Canada. 'The Sheepdogs’ also earned the band two #1 hit radio singles with "Feeling Good" and "The Way It Is".
“We’re excited to invite The Sheepdogs to Nexen Field House in March as entertainment headliners for the National presented by Syncrude,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park and Fort McMurray Host Committee Co-Chair. “This five-day event will bring the community together to witness world-class curling and these top-notch Canadian musical performers, creating lasting memories and exceptional, fun experiences.”
