Second annual Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge continues successful trend
(Fort McMurray, AB, September 29, 2013) – The second annual Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge built upon the outstanding success of the inaugural event in 2012, with 18 teams participating in the 2013 event.
Presented through a partnership between Noralta Skating Club and MacDonald Island Park, Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge is an opportunity for local companies and organizations and their employees to engage in healthy competition while developing social networks. Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge promotes, enables, and supports teamwork, company pride and corporate health and wellness while raising funds for Noralta Skating Club. Utilizing the many amenities at MacDonald Island Park, teams participated in team-building events such as Team Aquatics Challenge, Urban Orienteering, Rock Climbing Challenge, and more.
“With another successful year under its belt the Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge has clearly become an event with wide-spread support and popularity,” said Jodie Mercier, Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge Co-Chair and General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “We thank Noralta Skating Club for all of the effort they put into this event, and thank all of the teams and partners that make this event possible.”
On the final day of the competition Bird Construction came out on top as the champions, followed by Team Suncor Energy Tailings in second place. Rounding out the top three was Team Nexen in third place. Winner of the ‘Spirit Trophy’ was Bird Construction, for their positive attitude, sportsmanship and enthusiasm on display throughout the event.
