RRC enters into agreement with concert promoter/producer Invictus Entertainment Group
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) has entered into an agreement with one of Canada's largest independent promoters, Invictus Entertainment Group (IEG), to book, promote and produce concert events at the new state-of-the-art SMS Equipment Stadium at Shell Place.
"We produce and promote world class events in secondary and tertiary marketplaces. This venue and the patrons of this city deserve the focus and attention of the entertainment world, and we're going to service and showcase this new stadium in an unprecedented manner," said Invictus President and CEO, Jim Cressman.
"We're excited to have Invictus as an advocate ?for our facility," said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “Jim and his company have a long history of success and we believe this agreement will benefit the community through terrific new opportunities for concert events.”
Shell Place is the expansion project at MacDonald Island Park in Fort McMurray and includes the SMS Equipment Stadium, CNOOC Nexen Stage, The Redpoll Centre (social profit shared space), Baseball Stadium, Grand Ballroom, indoor turf field house and badminton centre, among other amenities. The official ground breaking for Shell Place (then known as the MacDonald Island Park Expansion Project) took place in the fall of 2012 and the official opening of the facility took place on June 12, 2015.
