Ribbon cutting marks re-opening of refreshed SMS Equipment Indoor Playground
A ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Mayor Melissa Blake, representatives from SMS Equipment, the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) and parents and youth marked the official re-opening of the refreshed SMS Equipment Indoor Playground at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
"As proud partners at the SMS Equipment Indoor Playground we are pleased to be here today for the official ribbon cutting on the refreshed and renewed Indoor Playground," said Dirk Maritz, Regional Operations Director of SMS Equipment. "With the youthful demographic of this community reflected in the many children who use this playground, we are certain this amenity will continue to attract families who have chosen this community as the place they live, work and play."
The SMS Equipment Indoor Playground closed for renovations during the summer months, including installation of new flooring, new playground equipment and the creation of a new mural designed to reflect the nature of the Canadian north.
“The SMS Equipment Indoor Playground has proven to be one of the most popular amenities at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre,” said Michael Cachia, Chair of the Board of Directors of the RRC. “We are pleased to be officially re-opening it in time for our busy fall and winter season, and we anticipate the new playground will be well received by parents and children alike. We would like to thank the many partners that make these facilities possible, especially Mayor and Council for their continued leadership and SMS Equipment for its support of a vital family-friendly and child-oriented amenity.”
