QUAD HIGH Art Show opens June 5 at MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery
(Fort McMurray, AB, May 29, 2014) – The MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation is pleased to welcome the QUAD HIGH Art Show exhibition to the Suncor Community Leisure Centre in June.
The exhibition is a celebration of some of the finest art created this school year and showcases a variety of work from Grade 9-12 students. The four Fort McMurray high schools represented in this exhibition include: Composite High School, Father Patrick Mercredi High School, Westwood Community High School and Holy Trinity Catholic High School. The art projects displayed include a variety of genres including: portrait studies, pencil portraits, independent choice projects, landscape and abstract pieces. Some of the media the students explored in these projects include acrylic paint, gel mediums, watercolor, ink and collage.
“As the 2013-14 school year draws to a close we are delighted to welcome this art exhibition featuring some of the many talented students in the Fort McMurray Catholic School District and Fort McMurray Public School District,” said Tim Reid, Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “We are certain the community will enjoy viewing the works from these up-and-coming young artists, and we are happy to do our part to support youth art initiatives in our region.”
The opening reception for the QUAD High Art Show takes place at 7:00 pm on June 5 at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation. Light refreshments will be served and all community members are invited to attend. The Quad High Art Show exhibition will be available for viewing from May 29–June 25.
