Nominations open for 2013 MacDonald Island Park Walk of Honour
(Fort McMurray, AB, September 5, 2013) – The MacDonald Island Park Board of Directors is accepting nominations for the MacDonald Island Park Walk of Honour until September 30.
Interested community members and organizations can submit Walk of Honour nominations at macdonaldisland.ca. The inductee will be selected by the MacDonald Island Park Board of Directors and announced at State of the Island on October 19.
“The annual Walk of Honour induction recognizes members of our community that have displayed exemplary leadership in making our region a great place to live,” said Nick Sanders, Chair of the MacDonald Island Park Board of Directors. “This is an opportunity for MacDonald Island Park, a community-based organization, to honour individuals who have made a significant difference in our community through their efforts and leadership.”
The Walk of Honour designation is an annual honour awarded to an individual(s) that has made an outstanding contribution to recreational, social, and/or cultural life in the Wood Buffalo community.
Previous inductees were Fort McMurray residents and community builders Brian Hatfield in 2011, and John H. Wilson in 2012. Plaques commemorating the inductions of these individuals lie on the main concourse of the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
