New Artist in the Studio program to connect local artists and students
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is delighted to announce an exciting new program called “Artist in the Studio” is coming soon to MacDonald Island Park thanks to a generous donation from RBC.
“We are so grateful to RBC for this kind donation and their support of this new program,” said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “The Artist in the Studio program will allow local youth to connect with artist mentors to explore their creativity while also developing new skills and relationships.”
The Artist in the Studio program is an evolution of the RRC Arts and Culture school visits program which enriched the education of hundreds of local students with opportunities to enjoy the arts. This new outreach program will bring emerging artists together with students of all ages to participate in educational and interactive art workshops. The program will serve to build a link between the arts community and the education community, and encourage collaboration and interaction between students and local artists.
“Art plays a critical part in building rich, vibrant communities and strong economies,” says Tana LeBlanc, Market Manager, Fort McMurray. “RBC cares about investing in the places where we live and work, and our support of the arts is a long-standing priority as we recognize and value the role it can, and does, play.”
