Miskanaw Golf Course gearing up for May 1 opening
23-Apr-12
MacDonald Island Park is pleased to announce Miskanaw Golf Course will open to the public on Tuesday, May 1.
“We’re excited for what will be another stellar year on the course here at Miskanaw Golf Club,” said Rob MacGregor, CPGA Director of Golf & Grounds at MacDonald Island Park. “Our grounds team has done an incredible job making improvements to the course over the winter and we’re in great shape heading into the season.”
Miskanaw Golf Club is in the process of a multi-year and multi-hole re-design that is nearing completion. Currently, hole No. 9, No. 14 and No. 18 are being refurbished, with the latter pair set for unveiling in late June. The new No. 9 should be ready for play by the end of August.
Miskanaw Golf Club is capping membership at 550 this season in an effort to better serve its members and the golf community. “By limiting ourselves to 550 members we’ll be able to offer the best experience possible while remaining highly accessible to recreational and casual players. That’s tremendously important to us as we continue to grow the sport for our region’s youth,” said MacGregor.
In addition, Miskanaw Golf Club is offering a seven-day advance tee time for members and a five-day advance tee time for non-members, up from five days and three days for members and non-members in 2011.
The team at Miskanaw Golf Club also invites the public to the new-look Fox Den Lounge, which underwent renovations in the offseason. The Fox Den Lounge, which also sports a new menu, opens on Tuesday, April 24 and will be open 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week. More information on the Fox Den Lounge will be released later this week.
Registration is also open at macdonaldisland.ca for golf programs, including Get Golf Ready, Ladies Lunch Lessons, and Junior SNAG (Starting New At Golf). Registration is also ongoing for the Men’s, Ladies’ and Junior Golf League.
