Major Northern Kickoff announcement to be made at State of the Island
(Fort McMurray, AB, October 17, 2013) – A major announcement regarding additional seating for the currently sold out Northern Kickoff presented by Shell will take place on Saturday night at State of the Island, MacDonald Island Park’s annual gala and celebration.
The announcement will take place live at State of the Island on Saturday night at Nexen Field House and will be made by Len Rhodes, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club and Northern Kickoff Vice Chair. Rhodes will be joined following the announcement by Melissa Blake, Northern Kickoff Chair, as well as Mick Herke, Vice President of Aluma Systems.
“We were thrilled by the enthusiastic response to the announcement in June of the Northern Kickoff presented by Shell,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park and Northern Kickoff Vice Chair. “Seat reservations for the Northern Kickoff game sold out in less than five hours after going on sale and that was the driving force in exploring ways in which we could expand seating. We invite interested fans to stay tuned to northernkickoff.ca on Saturday night between 8:30 pm and 9:00 pm for exciting news regarding additional seating.”
The Northern Kickoff presented by Shell is a partnership between MacDonald Island Park and the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club and will act as the official opening of Shell Place. The four-day community celebration will include an official CFL pre-season game between the host Eskimos and visiting Saskatchewan Roughriders broadcast live on TSN at SMS Stadium at Shell Place on June 13, 2015.
The most Northern game in the 101-year history of the CFL, the Northern Kickoff game sold over 5,200 seat reservations in less than five hours when they became available on June 28.
