Maintenance closure dates for Syncrude Aquatic Centre announced
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) would like to inform the community of the dates for the annual maintenance closure at the Syncrude Aquatic Centre and policy changes to the dress code at the aquatic centre effective upon the completion of the annual maintenance.
The Syncrude Aquatic Centre will be closed from September 8 – September 18 for annual required maintenance. When the aquatic centre re-opens on September 19, all patrons will be required to adhere to the new policy stating that no street clothing of any variety will be allowed in any of the amenities of the aquatic centre.
“In 2013, we made a commitment to schedule annual maintenance at the Syncrude Aquatic Centre to coincide with the dates of the DMG Oil Sands Trade Show and Conference in an effort to minimize impact on users and members,” said Chuck Loewen, Regional General Manager of Operations of the RRC. “We appreciate the understanding of the community and our ONE Pass members as we perform this necessary annual maintenance to ensure our facility continues to deliver the standard of excellence and safety we strive to achieve.”
“Part of our commitment to this standard of excellence and safety is a change in our policy regarding street clothing at the aquatic centre. The wearing of street clothing in the centre poses a health and safety risk, as well as creating the potential for damage to pool equipment from fibres, metal fasteners and other elements of street clothing not compatible with an aquatic environment. As such the new policy will require all patrons to adhere to the policy requiring swim wear appropriate for an aquatic centre, and we thank everyone in advance for their cooperation,” said Loewen.
