MacDonald Island Park welcomes new Executive Chef
(Fort McMurray, AB, September 24, 2013) – MacDonald Island Park is welcoming a new Executive Chef to its full spectrum Hospitality Department. Sudhir D’Souza, originally from Mangalore, India, has relocated to Fort McMurray from Calgary, where he led the kitchen team as the Executive Sous Chef at the Hyatt Regency Calgary.
Chef D’Souza brings with him a lifelong passion for the culinary arts, having started his career with the Taj group of hotels in 1991. Refining his culinary skills through years spent working on cruise ships, including being on the opening team for the Disney Cruise Line, Chef D’Souza joined the team at Hyatt Regency Dubai. During his six years in Dubai he had the honour of cooking for the Prime Minister of Britain John Major, the Sultan of Brunei, heads of state, and many Hollywood and Bollywood stars.
From there Chef D’Souza left Dubai to take on the role of Executive Sous Chef at the newly opened Grand Hyatt Doha in Doha, Qatar. Subsequent to his employment in Qatar he immigrated to Canada with his family to take up residency in Toronto and a position with the Hyatt Regency Toronto, which eventually led to Calgary, and now to Fort McMurray.
“We are tremendously fortunate to have Chef D’Souza join us,” said Naved Noorani, Director of Hospitality at MacDonald Island Park. “Not only does he bring with him over two decades of experience but a passion for the culinary arts that encompasses experiences from all over the world. With Chef D’Souza we anticipate the Hospitality Department will continue to provide the excellence of service and quality the community has come to expect from MacDonald Island Park, whether it is at a gala, conference, community event, or at the Fox Den Lounge.”
