MacDonald Island Park and ATB Financial officially launch Mi Day
(Fort McMurray, AB, October 25, 2012) – MacDonald Island Park in partnership with ATB Financial is excited to officially launch the ATB Financial Mi Day program.
ATB Financial Mi Day is a program designed to introduce over 1,300 elementary school-aged children in grades 4-6 to sports, fitness and wellness programs at MacDonald Island Park. The program is guided by a team of recreation professionals and is supported by ATB Financial as title partner.
“A lot of Fort McMurray’s wealth is underground, and the expertise needed to put it to work for all of us is astounding, really,” said Dave Mowat, ATB Financial’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “But there’s an even deeper resource here, and it’s the wealth of this community symbolized by MacDonald Island Park and Mi Day. That future is worth being a part of.”
The ATB Financial Mi Day program is a free one-day recreation experience involving participation in three of five activities:
· Curling (led by Fort McMurray Oilsands Curling Club)
· Golf via the Start New at Golf (SNAG) program
· Skating (led by Noralta Skating Club)
To date, 22 of 26 ATB Financial Mi Day program dates for 2012-2013 have been filled. Interested schools are invited to visit macdonaldisland.ca to register or for more information.
“We thank ATB Financial for its tremendous support of Mi Day,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “This partnership means we are able to deliver this program at no cost to the Island and to the community and speaks volumes about ATB Financial’s core values as a corporate and community partner.”
“We also thank Noralta Skating Club, Fort McMurray Oilsands Curling Club, the Fort McMurray Public and Catholic School Districts and all of the participating schools, principals, teachers and students that have already brought ATB Financial Mi Day to life.”
