Life is a Highway: Tom Cochrane & Red Rider excites MacDonald Island crowd
Fort McMurray, AB, July 26, 2012 – Canadian legends Tom Cochrane & Red Rider presented by 100.5 K-Rock delivered a classic performance on a warm summer night at MacDonald Island Park on Thursday as part of the Nexen Summer Rocks Series.
Cochrane performed a wide array of his familiar hits including “Life is a Highway,” “Boy Inside the Man,” and “Big League,” as the Grammy nominee, seven-time Juno Award winner and Officer of the Order of Canada headlined the second leg of the Nexen Summer Rocks Series.
Canadian rock legends The Stampeders opened for Tom Cochrane & Red Rider. The Juno Award-winning Calgary-based group warmed up the Island faithful with hits such as “Wild Eyes” and “Sweet City Woman.”
“What a great night at the Island as Tom Cochrane & Red Rider gave us a performance that we won’t soon forget,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “As we prepare to begin construction an expanded MacDonald Island Park, there isn’t a better way to say goodbye to the field than with Tom Cochrane & Red Rider.”
The Nexen Summer Rocks Series continues on Friday night as Nazareth and Helix presented by 100.5 K-Rock takes the outdoor stage at MacDonald Island Park. Tickets are available at macdonaldisland.ca or at MacDonald Island Park Guest Services, located on the main concourse of the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for Nazareth and Helix.
