Latin American art to be featured at MacDonald Island Park in July
(Fort McMurray, AB, June 27, 2013) – Artists from Colombia, Cuba, and Mexico are featured in an upcoming exhibition at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation. The exhibition, which will run from July 4 to July 28, includes artists such as Lil Barefoot, Mounthzer Padilla, and Mayte Rondon, among other contributors.
The artworks, which range from painting and drawing to collage, have a theme that is consistently warm and tropical, evoking the climate and culture from which they are inspired.
“It is fitting we welcome this exhibition at the beginning of our own warm summer season,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “The tropical palette reflects Latin America but is also reminiscent of the long summer days in the Wood Buffalo region. This exhibition is part of our commitment to bringing artwork from around the world to the community so we can all enjoy artistic endeavours from a variety of cultures and locales.”
The MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation will host an opening reception for the LatinArt exhibition on Thursday July 4 at 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served against a backdrop of Latin American art and music.
