Girls Inc. art auction to be held December 5 at MacDonald Island
(Fort McMurray, AB, November 29, 2013) – The current exhibit at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation entitled Because Growing Up is Serious Business will culminate in a closing reception and silent auction on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 pm.
This 3rd annual charity art exhibit, sale and auction will benefit local group Girls Incorporated of Northern Alberta, a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
The exhibit contains over 50 works from a number of local artists and opened to the community on November 8. All works in the exhibit are for sale, with 50% of the proceeds from the sale of each artwork going to Girls Inc. and the other 50% to the artist. Artists will also have the option of donating 100% of proceeds to Girls Inc.
“We are so pleased with the success of this annual event in previous years,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “We anticipate this will be yet another successful year for this charity art exhibit, sale and auction as community members support local artists as well as one of our important non-profit organizations, Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta.”
During the exhibit closing reception 10 selected artworks will be offered for silent auction, while handmade jewelry, including textile jewelry, and original fused glass artworks are also available. Door prizes, entertainment and light refreshments will be provided at the closing reception, which will take place at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation.
