(Fort McMurray, AB, April 9, 2014) – On April 16 the Fort McMurray Ringette Association will host a free “come try ringette” event in conjunction with a press conference announcing major partnerships for the upcoming 2015 Tim Hortons Canadian Ringette Championships.
The press conference, scheduled to occur at 1:00 pm at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, will be immediately followed by the free “come try ringette” event which will take place in CNRL Arena 2 from 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm. Interested participants are requested to bring a pair of skates, a helmet and warm gloves. All other necessary ringette equipment will be provided.
“Our Association hosts these events twice every year to introduce kids in our community to our sport,” says Trevor Boe, vice president of Fort McMurray Ringette Association. “It’s special this year because of the national tournament coming in 2015. There’s a great opportunity for kids all over the region to learn about ringette now, and these free sessions let them get a feel for it themselves, which just adds to the excitement.”
The 2015 Tim Hortons Canadian Ringette Championships will take place in the Wood Buffalo region March 29 – April 4, 2015 and is expected to bring over 40 ringette teams, 900 athletes, and coaches, families and supporters to the region for the event.
