“What a tremendous response we have seen to the National presented by Syncrude,” said Jodie Mercier, Host Committee Co-Chair and Director of Sport and Recreation for the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “The strong all-event pass and ticket sales is a powerful indicator of how popular and exciting this event is in the region, and speaks to the future of national and international sporting events as a community builder and economic driver in Wood Buffalo.”
The news of strong ticket sales follows the Regional Sport Tourism Awareness Breakfast on Friday morning at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. Over 200 attendees were joined by guest speakers Grant MacDonald, Chair of the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance and Kevin Martin, 17-time Grand Slam of Curling event champion and 2010 Olympic Gold medalist.
