Fieldhouse, Running Track schedules announced ahead of community events
Fort McMurray, AB, September 4, 2012 – MacDonald Island Park would like to notify the community of upcoming schedules for the Nexen Fieldhouse, Activity Fieldhouse and Fort McKay Group of Companies Running Track ahead of a busy month at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
The Nexen Fieldhouse and Activity Fieldhouse will be closed for recreational use on the following dates inclusive:
· September 7-14 (due to DMG Oil Sands Trade Show & Conference)
· September 17-24 (due to Fort McMurray Tourism Fall Trade Show & Market)
· September 27-30 (due to the Wood Buffalo Corporate Challenge)
“We thank the community for its understanding as we host these three unique and key community events at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport & Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “As a multi-faceted, community-based facility, the Suncor Community Leisure Centre accommodates a variety of events on a daily basis that serve our region in a number of ways. Because of that reality, we’ll be converting some of our recreation space to help deliver these events in a premier fashion.”
In addition, the Fort McKay Group of Companies Running Track will be closed for recreational use September 10-12 and September 27-30 with the exception of fall fitness and conditioning classes scheduled from September 27-30.
The community is also reminded the Total Fitness Centre will be closed from September 13-16 inclusive as preparations will be made to expand the facility. More details on Total Fitness Centre expansion will be released on Thursday, September 6 at a 1:00 p.m. news conference.
As an acknowledgement of these closures, MacDonald Island Park is offering members holding a valid annual membership as of September 30 a complimentary month in addition to the benefits available with the new ‘Mi Play Pass’. A full list of ‘Mi Play Pass’ benefits can be found at macdonaldisland.ca.
