Engagement sessions added for proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre
(Fort McMurray, AB, April 17, 2014) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) is announcing two additional dates for community engagement sessions regarding the proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre.
This third round of engagement sessions and the accompanying online survey follows two previous rounds held in 2013, which indicated strong community participation in engagement for the potential development of a recreation centre on the northside of Fort McMurray. Since the launch of the third round of community engagement and the online survey on April 9 almost 1000 community members have participated in-person or online. Overall, close to 6,400 submissions have been received as part of the engagement process, while 21 sessions will have been held by the end of April.
“We are receiving such terrific feedback from both the engagement sessions and the online survey during this third round of engagement that we felt it was crucial to add some new dates,” said Tim Reid, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “These new dates will give community members additional opportunity to evaluate the presentation in person and provide direction, while the online survey allows participants to continue to provide the input that is vital in guiding our recommendation for the proposed facility.”
The two new community engagement session dates, times, and locations are:
- Tuesday April 22, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Miskanaw North Ballroom, Suncor Community Leisure Centre
- Thursday April 24, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Miskanaw South Ballroom, Suncor Community Leisure Centre
The online survey, located at ONErec.ca/Northside, is available until April 28 to enable the community to provide direction, feedback and comments on the proposed community recreation centre.
