Edmonton Eskimos visit Fort McMurray to Kick Hunger for Wood Buffalo Food Bank
Four players from the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club spent Saturday in Fort McMurray at Stoney Creek Save-On-Foods to raise food and funds for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank as part of the Kick Hunger Campaign, proudly supported by the Building Trades of Alberta.
Edmonton Eskimos Calvin McCarty, Ryan King, Grant Shaw and Nate Coehoorn were present to pack groceries, sign autographs and take photos with fans during the food drive designed to fill the food bank shelves.
“Thanks to the Edmonton Eskimos, Building Trades of Alberta, Save-On-Foods, Syncrude, CRUZ 100.5 FM, the Fort McMurray Monarchs Football Club, Fort McMurray Ravens All Star Football, ONE Team and the generosity of our community we were delighted to accept over 2700 pounds of food and over $2600 in cash and gift card donations,” said Arianna Johnson, Executive Director of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank. “Through partnerships such as these we are able to continue to meet our mandate and kick hunger in the Wood Buffalo region.”
The Kick Hunger Campaign, proudly supported by Building Trades of Alberta, aims to raise $25,000 and 25,000 pounds of food by Northern Kickoff presented by Shell game day on June 13, 2015.
