Construction to begin on Shell Place foundation
(Fort McMurray, AB, November 7, 2012) – The pile driving required to lay the foundation for Shell Place begins this week and will continue through the winter.
The community is advised that there may be intermittent noise and vibration disruptions both outside at the MacDonald Island Park parking lot and inside at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
“We thank the community and Suncor Community Leisure Centre members and users for their understanding as we continue to make progress with Shell Place construction,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “It is our belief that the end result – Shell Place – will be an iconic and exciting addition as we grow in a way consistent with the world-class downtown core the community deserves.”
The community is reminded that the underground development required for necessary Shell Place utilities is ongoing. As a result, the community can expect disruptions to the area of the parking lot from the Suncor Community Leisure Centre main entrance around to the old tennis courts. Up to 200 of close to 1,000 total parking stalls will be affected.
MacDonald Island Park encourages the community to park in other areas of the parking lot moving forward, while accessing the Suncor Community Leisure Centre via the main entrance or the north entrance adjacent to the Miskanaw Golf Club Pavilion.
