Community Registration Day connects residents with key organizations
(Fort McMurray, AB, May 29, 2013) – Community social profit organizations and groups, the non- and not-for-profit sector and minor sports representatives will join forces at MacDonald Island Park to bring Community Registration Day to the region on September 14.
The event, formerly known as Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo, is a trade show format showcase of community-based organizations. The event provides an opportunity for residents to become engaged through program registration and volunteer opportunities, among other avenues.
“Community Registration Day is a great opportunity for the community to access information and to register with the many non-profit, minor sports, cultural, and community organizations in the region,” said Erika Hornsey, Executive Director at Volunteer Wood Buffalo. “This event provides organizations and community members with a terrific way to connect and foster new relationships, as well as build on existing ones. We are also delighted to host the free Volunteer Appreciation Barbeque that will be part of the event.”
The schedule for Community Registration Day on September 14 is as follows:
- 10:00 am-11:30 am: Nonprofit Sector LINK Networking Breakfast (Miskanaw Ballroom)
- Noon-4:00 pm: Community Registration Day exhibition, including complimentary Volunteer Appreciation Barbeque presented by Volunteer Wood Buffalo (Nexen Field House; open to the community)
The deadline for registration is September 8. Cost for exhibitors is $25 for non-powered booths and $30 for powered booths. Interested organizations can register for Community Registration Day and the Nonprofit Sector LINK Networking Breakfast at macdonaldisland.ca.
