“We’re excited to return to the community for input, ideas and feedback on pre-design work for the proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre at Abrams Land,” said Mike Cachia, Chair of the RRC Board of Directors. “The facility design that will result from the engagement sessions will be built on a foundation of community collaboration as we look to work together in improving quality of life and recreational opportunities in Fort McMurray and in our region.”
At the sessions, participants will be able to engage with RRC representatives and view a presentation on the proposed facility while providing feedback the RRC and the RMWB will use to drive project design considerations. The community engagement sessions follow an engagement period last February that saw 96% of 3,400 respondents prefer a new community recreation centre be built at Abrams Land.
The first engagement session will begin with a media conference which is open to the community, while individuals can provide feedback on the proposed Northside
Community Recreation Centre at buildingwithyou.ca beginning on Friday, September 26 at 6:00 pm MT through Friday, October 11. The RRC commits to communicating the results of the community engagement period once it is complete.
