Community celebrates together at Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo presented by Syncrude
Fort McMurray, AB, August 18, 2012 – Wood Buffalo demonstrated some of its famous ‘Big Spirit’ and engaged with the non-profit community in a major way at the third annual Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo at MacDonald Island Park on Saturday afternoon.
Over 70 exhibitors representing a diversity of non-profit organizations from across the region took part in the event, while close to 2,000 attendees helped celebrate and learn about the Wood Buffalo non-profit community. Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo also featured a collection of family-based entertainment and a barbeque-by-donation with all proceeds going to the non-profit organizations that provided volunteers for the event.
“This was the most successful Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo to date,” said Jeremy Irla, Chair of the Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo Steering Committee and Leisure and Community Services Supervisor at MacDonald Island Park. “It’s tremendous to see the level of engagement, interest and support that exists in our community for our non-profit organizations. We sincerely thank everyone for participating, especially Syncrude and our many community partners for making Get Up and Go Wood Buffalo possible.”
