Community celebrates at the CRAZE presented by Fort McMurray Realtors
(Fort McMurray, AB, December 31, 2012) – Excitement and energy took centre stage at MacDonald Island Park as the community rang in the New Year at the CRAZE presented by Fort McMurray Realtors on Monday.
The annual free family New Year’s Eve extravaganza was a tremendous success as thousands of attendees came through the doors at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. The action-packed event got underway with the Free Family Lunch and culminated with the choreographed Shell Fireworks. Overall, the CRAZE was highlighted by over 20 events and activities for people of all ages.
“The CRAZE is truly one of the best days of the year at MacDonald Island,” said Tim Reid, Chief Operating Officer at MacDonald Island Park. “We are honoured to do our part to hold the CRAZE and we couldn’t do it without the tremendous support of our partners, the many volunteers and ultimately the community members that make this place possible.”
MacDonald Island Park thanks its numerous community partners without which the CRAZE would not have been successful. In addition to title partner Fort McMurray Realtors, partners included Shell Albian Sands (New Year’s Eve Fireworks), ATCO Electric (KIDS ZONE), ATCO Gas (Mac’s Prize Shack and Carnival Games), Mix 103.7 FM (CRAZE Factor and Entertainment), 100.5 K-Rock (media partner), Country 93.3. FM and Rock 97.9 FM (WIPEOUT Mac Island), KAOS 91.1 FM (Enchanted Skate), Fort McMurray Oilsands Curling Club (Learn to Curl), Noralta Skating Club, Great Plains Security and Dunvegan Gardens.
The CRAZE also featured two new major events in 2012: The CRAZE Factor, a talent show involving performers throughout the community and a free concert headlined by Tyler Medeiros, an up and coming Toronto-based pop star.
“We’re delighted to support such a key community event like the CRAZE,” said Olive Wooden, Executive Director of Fort McMurray Realtors. “This was the best CRAZE yet and we look forward to producing an even better event for families next year.”
