Community advised of busy Labour Day weekend at MacDonald Island Park
(Fort McMurray, AB, August 27, 2014) – The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) advises the community of a busy weekend at MacDonald Island Park August 29 – September 1 and very limited parking that may result. These events include:
- Sustainival: Friday August 29 – Monday September 1
- Plain White T’s presented by Mix 103.7 FM: August 30
“We are anticipating a very busy and exciting weekend as we close out the summer season of events at MacDonald Island Park,” said Russell Agnew, Interim Chief Operating Officer of the RRC. “We are welcoming back Sustainival, the green carnival that has proven to be tremendously popular with community members, as well as the final concert of the summer season. Once again we would like to thank the community for its strong support of our events.”
As per policy established in 2013, 200 parking stalls will be reserved during Sustainival for ‘ONE Pass’ holders. Members will be able to access this reserved parking by displaying their ‘ONE Pass’ identification card to security personnel.
The RRC encourages the use of car-pooling and / or public transit to ease traffic congestion. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo provides transit service between the Jubilee Centre and MacDonald Island Park every 15 minutes on Route No. 99.
