Canada Day 2015 celebration events at MacDonald Island Park announced
The Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is pleased to announce the line-up of Canada Day celebration events that will occur at MacDonald Island Park on June 30 and July 1 this year.
Canada Day 2015 in Wood Buffalo will kick off on the evening of June 30 with live entertainment featuring headliner Corb Lund presented by Country 93.3 FM, followed by a midnight fireworks display lighting up the sky over the Suncor Community Leisure Centre. This will lead into the Canada Day Pancake Breakfast hosted by the Multicultural Association of Wood Buffalo at MacDonald Island Park on the morning of July 1, followed by the annual Canada Day Parade in downtown Fort McMurray and an afternoon of fun, family-focused activities at MacDonald Island Park as the Canada Day celebrations continue. These activities will include live entertainment, arts and crafts and a free family swim day at the Syncrude Aquatic Centre featuring treasure hunts, beach games and the Multi-challenge and Wibit inflatables. Shuttles providing transportation between MacDonald Island Park and the parade route will be available to allow participants to enjoy the festivities with ease.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the RMWB to deliver Canada Day celebrations again this year,” said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the RRC. “Along with the exciting musical entertainment on the evening of June 30 we are pleased to offer a variety of family-focused events and entertainment on July 1, including the very popular ‘My Little Pony’ show. We anticipate seeing many community members join us as we celebrate Canada Day in the Wood Buffalo region.”
