All facilities at MacDonald Island Park closed at 5:00 pm due to water shortage
(Fort McMurray, AB, ) – All facilities at MacDonald Island Park will close at 5:00 pm today due to a water shortage caused by an off-Island issue.
The water shortage, unrelated to the water shortage on Friday, October 4, was caused by construction off-Island and is not due to the operations at MacDonald Island Park or construction at the Shell Place project site. MacDonald Island Park is working with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to resolve the issue as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Due to health and safety regulations community members are being evacuated by from all facilities at MacDonald Island Park. A determination on whether any facilities at MacDonald Island Park can re-open today will be made at this evening and the result will be communicated to the community accordingly.
“As per health and safety regulations pertaining to water shortage situations we will close all facilities at MacDonald Island Park as of ,” said Mike Bryson, Director of Facilities Management at MacDonald Island Park. “We will provide more information as it becomes available, and we will inform the community if and when the facilities can re-open following our assessment of the situation at .”
