Additional engagement sessions announced for proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre
(Fort McMurray, AB, October 23, 2013) – The Regional Recreation Corporation in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is announcing three additional dates for community engagement sessions regarding the proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre, as well as an extension of the time line for completion of the online survey related to the proposed facility.
The initial four dates of this second round of engagement sessions on the proposed facility, on September 26, 27, 28 and October 1, saw strong community attendance. In recognition of this the RRC and RMWB would like to invite community members to attend three additional dates to provide feedback and input that will be the driver for any design and amenity considerations.
“We have received such terrific feedback from both the engagement sessions and the online survey that we felt it was crucial to add some new dates, as well as extend the time frame for the online survey during this second round of engagement sessions,” said Tim Reid, Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Recreation Corporation. “These new dates will give community members the opportunity to see the presentation in person and provide direct feedback, while the extension of the time frame for the online survey will allow them to continue to provide the input that is vital in guiding the design of the proposed Northside Community Recreation Centre. This is about having conversations and listening to the community, and we are looking forward to these sessions.”
The three new community engagement session dates, times, and locations are:
- Thursday, October 24. 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Suncor Community Leisure Centre (Fireside Room)
- Wednesday November 6, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, École McTavish Junior High School
- Thursday November 7, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Suncor Community Leisure Centre (Athabasca Room)
The online survey, located at buildingwithyou.ca, is now available until November 10 to enable the community to provide feedback on the proposed community recreation centre.
