3rd annual charity art exhibit, sale and auction to benefit Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta
(Fort McMurray, AB, November 7, 2013) – The 3rd annual charity art exhibit, sale and auction hosted by the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation will benefit local non-profit group Girls Incorporated of Northern Alberta, a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold.
The exhibit, entitled Because Growing Up is Serious Business, contains works from a number of local artists and opens to the public on Friday, November 8. All works in the exhibit are for sale, with 50% of the proceeds from the sale of each artwork going to Girls Inc. and the other 50% to the artist. Artists will also have the option of donating 100% of proceeds to Girls Incorporated of Northern Alberta.
“It is a genuine pleasure to host the 3rd annual charity art exhibit, sale, and auction,” said Jodie Mercier, General Manager of Sport and Recreation at MacDonald Island Park. “This event not only showcases the work of local artists but also highlights the significant work being done in our community by Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta, resulting in a collaboration of benefit to both groups as well as the community at large.”
The Girls Inc. vision is to provide girls 6 to 18 years old with the knowledge and skills needed to break free from gender stereotypes, create social change, be proud of who they are and be confident in their own skin.
During the exhibit closing reception on December 5 at 7:00 pm, approximately 10 selected artworks will be offered for silent auction. Door prizes, entertainment and light refreshments will be provided at the closing reception, which will take place at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation.
