Registration for Play On! Fort McMurray ends Wednesday at Midnight
Street hockey enthusiasts are reminded the deadline to register for Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! presented by Mix 103.7 FM is on Wednesday, June 5 at Midnight.
Play On! Fort McMurray participants will attempt to achieve a new Guinness World Record for the largest street tournament of any kind. 21 participating cities, including Fort McMurray, will contribute to the effort to shatter the current official world record, which sits at 205 teams and 2,096 participants.
“There is strong interest in Play On! this year, especially given how the event has grown in our community over the last two years,” said Sheldon Germain, Play On! Fort McMurray Co-Chair and Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Councillor. “This event has become one of the most popular summer events in the region and we are excited to join forces once again with all of our community partners to create an exceptional Play On! weekend on June 8 and 9 at C.A. Knight Way.”
Players and teams can register until Midnight on June 5 at playon.ca/events/mcmurray. In addition to a full weekend of street hockey each participant will receive a commemorative Hockey Night in Canada’s Play On! t-shirt.
There are 14 divisions available for registration and every participant will be entered into a draw to win a signed Team Canada Steven Stamkos jersey, which will be presented during the local Celebrity Game on Saturday June 8 at Noon. Registrants can check in and pick up their tournament schedule on Friday June 7, from Noon until 6:00 pm at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre.
