Nexen CanadaROCKS - Blue Rodeo, Corb Lund and Doc Walker
Date: Jul 1, 2012
Time: 6:00pm

Since the release of their debut album, Outskirts, in March 1987, Blue Rodeo has established themselves as one of the premiere bands in Canadian music history. Their twelfth studio album, The Things We Left Behind, was released in November of 2009 on Warner Music in Canada and TeleSoul Records in the US. Over the course of their stellar career Blue Rodeo has released 12 studio albums, two live albums, a greatest hits collection and an award-winning DVD, selling in excess of four million copies around the world.

JUNO award winner and seven-time CCMA Roots Artist of the Year Corb Lund is at heart, an unparalleled regional storyteller. Losin’ Lately Gambler, Corb’s sixth album and first major international release, is another engrossing collection of sharply drawn characters and richly authentic tales inspired by his own ancestry from the Canadian West.
Losin’ Lately Gambler is propelled by a galloping stand-up bass, electric guitar and is set to Corb’s Jack London-esque yarns about down-and-out cowboys, whiskey and ranching. The sound is tough to categorize but the mix of roughnecks, bikers, bankers, and ranch hands you’ll see drinking and standing shoulder to shoulder at one of his concerts will all agree, Corb Lund is authentic.
Lund was born and raised in rural Southern Alberta. He has been singing about his country upbringing for more than a decade on critically acclaimed albums such as Five Dollar Bill (2002) and Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer (2005). Lund is the current Canadian Country Music Association’s Roots Artist of the Year for the fifth consecutive year and has won countless Western Canadian Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards and both Canadian and U.S. Independent Music Awards. Lund’s music reaches across genres allowing him to appear at varied major festivals worldwide from the main stage at Glastonbury in the UK and Virginfest in Canada to a cowboy poetry festival in Nevada.

JUNO Award winning country trio Doc Walker nominated for 2012 Country Album of the Year for their 2011 release 16 & 1. The album that includes “Country Girl”, “Do It Right” and their new single “Where I Belong.”
